Britain, of course is the home of Land Rover, so our British adventure had to be something special. We set out to visit some of the most glorious countryside as well as some tough terrain and the ultimate testing ground at Eastnor Castle.
The initial leg of our adventure took us to Blenheim Palace, Churchill’s birthplace in Oxfordshire. Then on through the quintessentially English Cotswold Hills where the smooth handling and effortless refinement of the Land Rover Discovery came into its own.
On to Eastnor Castle, near the Welsh border. This is Land Rover’s secret extreme testing ground and we took the chance to re-acquaint ourselves with the remarkable off-road capability of the Discovery, putting it through its paces on the steep hills, deep mud filled ravines and across some of the specially designed obstacles (SAS Quarry was particularly heart-stopping).
We plotted a route that took us through the elegance of Stratford-upon-Avon on our way to Solihull, home of Land Rover production since 1948. In the heart of the facility is the infamous Jungle Trail, regarded by many Land Rover enthusiasts as something of a rite of passage. We couldn’t resist taking the Discovery through some of the more notorious sections and, as ever, found ourselves being quietly impressed.
Britain. An extraordinary adventure packed with history, culture, countryside and challenges.
